Baroness Chalker addresses President of Uganda’s Investment Roundtable

Baroness Lynda Chalker as a member of the President of Uganda’s Investment Roundtable held in Uganda twice a year attended the most recent meeting on 15 October 2009 in Kampala. The Roundtable group provides advice to the government on how to improve Uganda’s business and investment environment.

INVESTORS urged the Government to reduce the bottlenecks in doing business by embracing new information and communication technologies that speed up processes and ensure transparency.

Baroness Chalker, former British Minister for International Development, said tackling the “horrendous paper passing” is critical in spurring investments.

Discussions were also held on ICT, agriculture and petroleum (oil reserves have been discovered under Lake Albert)
