Arbitration

What?

When a large infrastructure company were not paid in the defined timescales by an African government for which they had done work, AML were brought in to resolve the dispute.

How?

After confirming that the payment was indeed due and valid within the terms of the agreement, members of the AML team met with government personnel to discuss their constraints and determine a way forward. Together a payment plan was agreed.

And now...

  • The client has retrieved the debt.
  • A sense of propriety has been restored in a private setting through behind the scenes arbitration rather than exposure in the courts.
  • The infrastructure company has now increased its involvement in the country, and others in Africa, safe in the knowledge that resolution can be achieved quietly and in partnership with the government.
