Paula Nelson
Senior Advisor
Paula is Senior Advisor to Africa Matters Limited. Paula is a barrister of Gray’s Inn, London, and brings wide experience of working in a truly global company, having been Company Secretary and Head of the Legal and Pensions Departments of Nestlé UK Ltd. and, more recently, General Counsel (Intellectual Property) of Nestlé SA in Switzerland.
Paula also has experience of the pharmaceutical industry, having spent six years as Legal Advisor to Schering Health Care Ltd.,the UK subsidiary of the German pharmaceutical company.
Having also qualified as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, her early career included four years as Senior State Counsel in the Ministry of Justice in Borno State in Northern Nigeria.
Paula brings to her role of Senior Advisor experience of dealing with some of the major challenges facing industry, such as the need to protect the company’s image, reputation and intellectual property rights as well as the need to protect the company’s consumers from the risks arising from counterfeit versions of their products.
